Tour Schedule |
Showstoppers is a novella-length story in the Emily Castles mystery series. The first full-length novel, Invitation to Die, will be published by Thomas & Mercer in October 2013.
The Emily Castles mystery series is set in present-day London. It features twenty-six-year-old Londoner Emily Castles and her neighbor, eccentric philosophy professor Dr. Muriel Crowther.
In Showstoppers, Emily helps out at a local stage school run by her neighbor, Victoria. Soon she’s mixed up in a blackmail plot and two deaths. Emily and Dr. Muriel team up to prevent further a massacre live on stage during the end of term show.
Review:
This novella is actually the second book in this series. I liked this story better than the first one, Three Sisters, but both were good. We learn a little more about Emily and her wacky neighbors…well at least a few of them. Having just lost her job, Emily almost starts to work for a neighbor at a theater school. It is under the guise that she will help figure out where these threatening letters are coming from and who is trying to scare Victoria. I think I almost had it figured out but not until near the end. I like that it wasn’t blatantly obvious who was behind everything.
Over all I give it 3 1/2 paws.
