deadlyrecall

Synopsis:

A terrifying memory is locked deep inside her. A killer wants to keep it that way.

Nine-year-old Eden Moran thought she was saying good-bye to her mentor that fateful day in St. Patrick’s. She had no idea she’d witness the nun’s demise, or that her child’s mind would compensate. Now seventeen years later, Albuquerque cops have unearthed human remains, and the evidence points to Eden as being the key to solving Sister Beatrice’s murder. When a hellbent cop applies pressure, Eden stands firm. She doesn’t remember the woman. Unfortunately for Eden, Sister Beatrice’s killer will do whatever it takes to keep it that way.

Review:

In case you can’t tell by reading my blog, I love a good mystery/suspense novel.  Deadly Recall is a good example of the kind of book I like to read…lots of intrigue, red herrings and interesting characters.  I honestly had no clue who killed Sister Beatrice seventeen years ago, or the characters in the present.  It definitely was NOT who I thought it would be and I like that…I don’t like to figure it out until the end when everything is being revealed.  I thought it was interesting bringing in the Catholic Church and making a priest a somewhat “evil” character but really just human.  It’s all in the perception.  The developing relationship between Eden and Kevin was a nice bonus to lighten the book.  And let’s not forget the side drama with her family and why she was somewhat estranged from them tying back to the incident 17 years ago.

We enjoyed this and hope to read more by Donnell and give it 4 paws.
