For author Doe Running Deer, life has been a series of tragedy and healing. In My Past Decisions Have Made Me Who I Am Today, she narrates the stories of her trials and tribulations, sharing how faith helped her get through the difficult periods.
Using personal anecdotes to illustrate how God has worked in her life, she explores the doubts, fears, and perplexities she experienced and describes how she found comfort and guidance in the Bible and through prayer. In this memoir, she recalls growing up as the oldest of four in a small Texas town against the backdrop of her parents’ alcoholism and marital issues; being molested by a cousin at an early age; being introduced to Jesus Christ in her teenage years; marrying an alcoholic; and enduring his subsequent suicide.
With scriptural examples to highlight key points, My Past Decisions Have Made Me Who I am Today serves to communicate the message that there is healing and that God is listening and is rescuing his people from their hurts and pains.

Inside the mind of the author Doe Running Deer
It all starts with God, as I was growing up I was very inquisitive. I asked questions, I observed, I listened, and talked little. I was labeled as a quite person, and strong in the mind. My mind had the capacity to go deep in thought, I often wondered why. As a child I would often ask God why am I here on this earth? As an adult I still have the deep thoughts. I keep reaching for more than I currently know. I have a hunger to know more than I know, and when I get more I want to give it away, I want to share with others. There is a scripture in the massage version of the Bible that says,” for everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him”. (Colossians 1:16). I have always wanted to know my purpose in life on earth. This is my scenario of my life; my whole life is box of puzzles pieces, as time goes on through my obedience, giving, loving, honesty, teaching, repentance, renewing my mind, being gracious, forgiving, defeating temptation, and growing in spiritual maturity. The puzzles pieces are being connected to form a picture of my life. I do not want to die without all the pieces being connected to form the complete picture of my life. I want no pieces left in the box. I am always thinking of ways I can add to someone’s life. My purpose is slowly coming into view.
