Synopsis
Art historian Genevieve McKenna, who just lost her museum job, lands an exciting assignment: Trace the path of a drawing the Nazis stole in wartime Paris and restore it to the rightful owners.
Plus, there’s Julien Brooks, whose family claims the drawing. She’s eager to get to know him better — a lot better.
But someone — could it be Julien? — is very determined to thwart her investigation.
And why does she keep having bizarre flashbacks to a place she’s certain she’s never been? Are those moments a sign of the same mental illness that plagued her mother’s life?
On a research trip to Paris, Genevieve must confront her growing attraction to Julien and the truth about her destiny. What she learns might crack the case — or cost her and Julien their lives.
Review
I really enjoyed this book! The book drew me in from the start and I had a hard time putting it down. I felt like this book combined a little bit of sci-fi and romance with the mystery within the book. I liked the history tie in to WWII and the art world. Seems like I have read several books like this lately and the topic fascinates me. There are several mysteries in this book and I liked that a mystery was being solved right up until the last chapter. The “main” mystery was resolved near the end but there were still loose ends that had to be tied up. There is some action tied into the mystery of the artwork which kept the book hopping. I will admit that I didn’t expect the person behind all of the happenings with the museum, but looking back it makes sense. I can’t give away too many clues otherwise I will give away everything.
Now there is one character that should have her own book and that is D. We don’t know her full name other than Genevieve called her that once in college and was told to never call her that again. D is a very confident woman and I think she is a good friend for Genevieve who is very reserved and does it by the book. D gets Genevieve out of her comfort zone.
The romance is not over the top and that is one of the mysteries solved at the end….are Julien and Genevieve destined to be together?
We loved this so much we are giving it 5 paws! Definitely check it out and enter to win a copy of the book below.
