Review – Knee Deep by D.E. Haggerty #romanticcomedy @denaehaggerty #5paws
Synopsis
Just when I think I’ve got it all figured out – BOOM! – in walks trouble.
It’s taken me years, but my life is finally back on track – new job, new friends, a complete new Violet! I don’t even cry myself to sleep every night anymore. But then he walks through the front door of my new workplace. How dare he come in here and ruin everything for me – again!
Luke Freaking Bauer. Not the boy who got away. Nuh-uh. Not even close. The boy who tossed me aside when I needed him the most.
But when I look deep into those hurt eyes, I forget I’m the one who was wronged. Oh boy. I’m knee-deep in trouble and sinking fast.
Knee Deep is book 4 of the Love in the Suburbs series but can be read as a standalone.
Review
This is the last book in the Love in the Sububurbs series and this makes me sad. This group of women have become friends and so much more. Heck, even their guys are good friends. This book (and series) is filled with so many quick quips and one-liners that I was in stitches for nearly the whole book.
This book focuses on Violet and Luke. They have known each other since high school but lost touch after a certain incident that did not end well. But they still have chemistry and a spark between them that lights up the pages with their banter and their love for one another…once they stop being obstinate and move past the event in the past.
I love the camaraderie between all of the characters and even Grandma who is so focused on having great grandchildren, even though Frankie is her only biological grandchild. The rest have been adopted because of their relationship with Frankie. At least there is no one left for her to find a beau for which is a good thing since she never does well at that endeavor.
I don’t want to spoil the story, so just know that if you are looking for a good laugh then this is a series you definitely need to read. This book may be a standalone book, but you will really get a feel for all of the characters by starting at the beginning. You will not be disappointed!
We give this book 5 paws up and wish there were more to come….maybe a book a few years down the road and we can see what the gang is up to and if anyone has had any children for Grandma.
About the Author
I grew up reading everything I could get my grubby hands on, from my mom’s Harlequin romances to Nancy Drew, to Little Women. When I wasn’t flipping pages in a library book, I was penning horrendous poems, writing songs no one should ever sing, or drafting stories which have thankfully been destroyed. College and a stint in the U.S. Army came along, robbing me of free time to write and read, although on the odd occasion I did manage to sneak a book into my rucksack between rolled up socks, MRIs, t-shirts, and cold weather gear. After surviving the army experience, I went back to school and got my law degree. I jumped ship and joined the hubby in the Netherlands before the graduation ceremony could even begin. A few years into my legal career, I was exhausted, fed up, and just plain done. I quit my job and sat down to write a manuscript, which I promptly hid in the attic before returning to the law. But practicing law really wasn’t my thing, so I quit (again!) and went off to Germany to start a B&B. Turns out running a B&B wasn’t my thing either. I polished off that manuscript languishing in the attic before following the husband to Istanbul where I decided to give the whole writer-thing a go. But ten years was too many to stay away from my adopted home. I packed up again and moved to The Hague where, in between tennis matches and failing to save the world, I’m currently working on my next book. I hope I’ll always be working on my next book.

They made me laugh!
Dena Haggerty
Thanks for taking the time to read and review! I’m sad it’s the end of the series as well. This group of friends (including grandma) was fun to write. I’ll miss them.
