Review
Daniel Morrison’s guardian angel worked overtime that day as he avoided dying multiple times due to a misunderstanding.
This book starts with a collision, but what follows is an action-packed and fast-paced thriller novel. It also reflects the seedy underbelly of politics. We all know it is there, but corruption runs rampant as we follow Daniel around South Texas in his quest to save his life and reveal the truth. Not only do we have a corrupt politician, but there is also a journalist who likes to stir the pot and sensationalize the facts of a story. We don’t like either of those characters, but they added the right amount of tension to the story.
At first, it is hard to feel bad for Daniel. He has gotten himself into a mess at home and with the accident. He doesn’t have the best past. However, the results of the crash and the death of the politician’s life shouldn’t mean that he has to look over his shoulder every step of the way. It doesn’t help that he now has a bounty on his head, and this prevents others from helping him. There are a few surprises, but it isn’t surprising that greed overrules rational thought. But along comes Tricia. She was driving along when Daniel got into her car and forced her to drive him away from the police. While she could have reacted differently, I think she realized that Daniel was in a tough spot and took pity on him, at least a little bit.
Throughout the book, Daniel is evading those trying to capture him, dead or alive, for the bounty on his head. He has many narrow escapes, and I know I was glued to my chair wondering what would happen next.
I will say the way the book opens doesn’t seem very realistic. However, as I read further, it made a little more sense, at least considering the character and her thought process, or lack thereof.
I loved this book and read it in one sitting. That doesn’t happen too often because of life, but it was the perfect night to enjoy this novel.
We give this book 5 paws up.
