Review
A novel that combines adventure, love, truth, and second chances.
I’ll admit, I have a different idea about how this story might play out based on the title. I thought she might discover she is the long-lost daughter of Veronika, or something like that, since they looked so much alike at the same age. However, the story that unfolded was touching. I enjoyed the historical angle, too. While I knew life for those in that town wasn’t ideal during WWII, the atrocities of war linger.
This story is also about Morgan finding her new path. After a disastrous relationship, she has put everything on hold. However, this trip to Budapest opens her eyes to the possibility that it is time to move on and seek love again. Love is best found when you are least expecting it.
I enjoyed watching Veronika’s story unfold. It was more than losing a fiancé; it was the devastation that she felt thinking she had been left behind, and he didn’t care for her anymore. When the truth is revealed, everything changes.
While not fast-paced, the story brings together family, history, and dreams for the future.
We give it 4 paws up.
