Synopsis

Violet Abrams has always been in love with everything love and weddings. Good thing, too, since she’s been a bridesmaid no less than seven times. Sure her turn was next, she’d been planning her own nuptials meticulously in a treasured three-ring binder…until her longtime boyfriend left her for someone else.

Fast-forward to the day of his wedding, an ill-advised match being lit to said binder, and the fire department getting called to her sister’s bakery. Violet’s always been a little impulsive and a lot awkward, but having to explain to the super-cute firefighter, Ford Maguire, why she was setting fire to a bunch of wedding dress photos? Worst day ever.

Except now her bridesmaid expertise has her helping Ford cover his “man of honor” duties in his best friend’s upcoming wedding. Ford may be a “bridesdude,” but forever is the last thing on his mind. And if there’s one thing a perpetual bridesmaid knows, it’s the importance of a happily ever after.

Review

If you are looking for a book filled with puppies, friendship, humor, family, and romance, then this is the book for you.  This is the followup book to Just One of the Groomsmen but you don’t have to read the first book to read this one.

Violet arrives in Uncertainty to nurse her wounds from a failed relationship and to help her sister Maisey fix up her bakery.  She didn’t count on starting a fire and meeting Ford, one of the firefighters for the town, and falling for him.  He has his own issues when it comes to relationships and she was the last thing he expected when he responded to the call about the fire.

I laughed through the whole book.  I didn’t mark any passages to share because I would have wanted to share the whole book.  There are some touching moments, times when the characters are at odds, and some spicy scenes to round out the book.  I thought it was brilliant to have Violet be so open about her ADHD and when one of the puppies training to be search and rescue dogs has the same affliction, she becomes attached to him and nicknames his Distracto before he is given his official name, Trouble.  Ford has issues and almost ruins a good thing by not following his heart and listening to others.  It’s a guy thing, but thankfully his best friend is Addie Murphy and she helps set him straight.

The book does leave something of a cliffhanger regarding one of the friends, Easton.  I want to know his story but I’ll have to wait.  sigh.

We give this book 5 paws up.

About the Author

Cindi Madsen is a USA Today Bestselling author of contemporary romance and young adult novels. She sits at her computer every chance she gets, plotting revising, and falling in love with her characters. Sometimes it makes her a crazy person. Without it, she’d be even crazier. She has way too many shoes, but can always find a reason to buy a new pretty pair, especially if they’re sparkly, colorful, or super tall. She loves music, dancing, and wishes summer lasted all year long. She lives in Colorado (where summer is most definitely NOT all year long) with her husband and three children.
