Review

A talking bunny, a gargoyle guard, a centaur for a police officer, and a town filled with magical beings. What is not to love about this town?

This is the first book I have read by this author, and I am so glad I was introduced to her. While I usually don’t read many paranormal books, this one is paranormal light to me. There are magical townspeople, but they are like you and me. They might have some powers, but not everyone does. And I enjoyed seeing various magical beings all in one town, treated like everyone else. Vampires, druids, ogres, fairies, and more.

The mystery was well constructed because I didn’t guess the thief until the clues were dropped right in front of me. I enjoyed watching Heather gain confidence that she should inherit Spellbooks and that her presentation would bring together a community, not focusing on just the bottom line. There is even a twist with how the new owner will be decided.

There is even a budding romance between Heather and Finn, the local tattoo artist.

I love it when books have animals, and this one features Luna, a talking bunny that comes with the shop. There is a cat, but we don’t learn much about him until near the end. Luna is a hoot and brings a smile to my face even when I think about her.

There is something special about the title that ties the book together. But I won’t spoil that for you, so read the book!

This is the first book in the series, and it looks like there are four, with three set to be published in 2025. I can’t wait to dive into the other books.

We give this book 5 paws up.
