Synopsis

Smith Welch never got over Avery—the girl who had his heart and then walked away after one mistake he’s regretted every day since. Now a rising star on a hit TV show, Smith seems to have it all. But no amount of fame can fill the void she left behind.

Avery thought she’d buried the past. After a betrayal shattered her heart, she built a new life far from Houston. But when a hostile takeover ends her career, she’s forced to come home—and straight into Smith’s orbit.

Neither of them had expected the spark to be there still. Neither of them is ready for how strong it still burns.

He wants redemption. She wants to forget. But some loves are written in the stars—and this time, Smith isn’t letting her go without a fight.

Can one honest confession and a second chance heal a decade’s worth of pain? Or will Smith always be chasing the love that slipped through his fingers?

A moving second-chance romance about forgiveness, fate, and the kind of love that never truly fades.

Review

This novel is a 180 degree switch from the first book. Where the first book had mystery and intrigue, this book is all heart.

Smith never got over losing Avery. It was a misunderstanding that should have been reconciled 10 years ago, but wasn’t. I appreciated the lookback at what happened that caused them to break up, to give us context about their relationship. We are able to see how they have matured over those years. It isn’t a smooth road to their reconcilliation, but considering the past, it wasn’t going to be an overnight fix.

I did feel for Avery at the beginning and what happened with her marketing job. There wasn’t anything she could do except move on. That just meant better things were coming down the pike for her, and not just Smith.

This was a sweet romance about finding love after many years and mistakes. I am glad that they took it slower once they moved past what caused them to split. They didn’t rush their relationship, this reflects their maturity.

I enjoyed watching Smith and Avery fall in love all over again, and find their forever with each other.

We give this book 4 paws up.
