Poetry Excerpt – Quantum Moments by Jim Bates

StoreyBook Reviews

Synopsis

Moments can have special meaning. Moonlight shadows in the deepest night. A dusty lavender sunset. A fiery orange sunrise. A child’s laughter while ice skating. A bluebird’s quiet song. A creek murmuring through a peaceful woodland. Green day-lily shoots emerging in spring. Fall colors of golden, amber, burgundy, and orange on a forest hillside. Soft snowfall on a winter evening. A fireplace fire warming a cold night. Returning memories of growing up. Peaceful protest during the winter of 2026. The quiet slumber of a loved one. Reading on a rainy afternoon. A hike through a pine-scented forest with a best friend.

And so much more.

Life can be complicated, but as Thoreau pointed out, it’s never too late to learn how to simplify. The poems in this collection are short, only a page or less in length. They are meant to be read slowly and savored. Take your time. Relax. Enjoy.
