Review – A Friend for Hope by Amie White

Synopsis
Nine-year-old Zoe Meadows is the new kid in Ivy Creek. For homeschooled Zoe, every day starts the same: breakfast, then to the living room where Miss Ellis awaits. Only today, Zoe can’t focus—not when she notices neighborhood children playing outside, children she’s yet to meet.
Watching all this unfold, Zoe’s parents decide it’s time for a companion—the furry kind, to be precise. Everything changes when Zoe meets Hope at the dog shelter for the first time. The two girls form an inseparable bond over the following months and find in each other the one thing they both craved for a long, long time: a forever friend.

Review
Friendship is the core of any relationship, even between humans and dogs.
This story shares more than what friendship is; it also reminds us that sometimes the quiet ones are the most important in our lives, and we need to give them time and space to share that with us.
This adorable story does just that and will be a great addition to any library. It draws on the emotions and Zoe’s ability to see past Hope’s quiet nature.
The illustrations are beautifully done and will engage readers of all ages.
I did wonder why Zoe didn’t make friends with the other children, and why her parents didn’t encourage that. But I might be overthinking the book.
We give this book 5 paws up.
