Review

Lies, betrayal, and unexpected allies. That is what you will find nestled deep within this romantic suspense novel.

This novel starts off with a warm feeling, a rags to riches story. Lexi, a talented young woman taking a bit of a break, is wooed by a rich corporate executive. But is he doing it for all the right reasons? And what about her motives? She is just barely scraping by, and this would take her out of a dangerous neighborhood, and offer some relief from living paycheck to paycheck. But at what cost?

Collin was a good guy, but he is used to getting what he wants at the expense of others. Having money will skew how people view the world and life. However, deep down, he is a good guy. I think he just doesn’t know how to get out of the shadow of his father. I do think Lexi should have stood up to Collin sooner, but the lure of a more stable life is hard to ignore.

There is an unexpected protagonist. There are chapters where this person is sabotaging the company and its products, but we don’t know who or why. When revealed, it was quite the surprise and not who I suspected.

There is also finding love where you least expect it. This could be said for both Lexi and Collin. How their relationship works out is for the best.

I devoured this novel, and was kept on pins and needles trying to figure out the protagonist. We give it 5 paws up.
