About the Movie

The children in Millie’s family can’t wait for Grandma to arrive with her special Christmas apron. According to tradition, each grandchild will write down the gift he or she wants most in the world, and then slip that wish into the apron’s pocket. Then, on Christmas morning, those wished-for gifts will be magically waiting under the tree. But then eleven-year-old Millie overhears her parents: the family can’t afford gifts for all the little ones. She pictures the disappointment on her siblings’ faces: nothing to open on Christmas morning. Is Millie willing to sacrifice her own whole-soul wish so that someone else’s can come true? Full of tender emotion and delightful surprise, this story reminds us of the miracles that unfold when we think of others before ourselves.

Review

This movie reminds me a little bit of the story of the Magi, where the husband and wife sacrifice something for the other to give them a gift at Christmas.  In this movie, it is two sisters that selflessly give their wish for the Christmas Apron for the other.

This movie is set during the war so many do without or with very little.  The story is uplifting, heartwarming, and perfect for the holidays and what we should be teaching our children and those around us – the reason for the season.  I even found myself misty at the end when the family comes together Christmas morning.

About the Movie

Today was supposed to be one of the best days ever for nine-year-old Izzy Rush. But now, on the last day of class before Christmas break, she has been left alone at school. To make matters worse, the biggest blizzard this town has ever seen is blowing and snowing full force. Which is why three bumbling crooks on the lam decide to take shelter in the seemingly empty school. When Izzy discovers that the criminals are holding her friend Ray, the school custodian, she decides it’s up to her to save the day. But what can a nine-year-old girl do? You’d be surprised!

Review

If you are a fan of the Home Alone movies, then Christmas Break-In is a movie you won’t want to miss.  This story finds Izzy forgotten at school on the last day before Christmas Break but she manages to amuse herself while waiting for her parents.  Some thieves break into the school to wait out a blizzard and this is where the hijinks begin.

Izzy is very precocious for 9 years old and she is also obsessed with playing the guitar and has been saving up her money for a Fender guitar.  The day that this all happens, one of her parents is supposed to take her to the store to buy the guitar since it is a one day sale (hence the photo below with Fender Guitar on her parent’s foreheads).  She has a big brother that can be a pain, but he loves his sister all the same and even seeks out to find and help her once he learns she was left at the school by herself.

The movie has many laugh out loud moments and even some very touching parts that make it a winner in my book.  A great movie for the holidays.

We give it 5 paws up.

Title: TWELVE DAYS
Author: Hope Waters
Publisher: Independent
Pages: 212
Genre: Romance

Synopsis

Zoey Blake is having a perfect holiday season. Finals are over and it’s time to head home for Christmas, but when she wins the Hartbreakers True Love contest to join them on their tour, she has a chance to follow her favorite band for twelve days — and twelve steamy nights.

Mackenzie has been a player since and joining Hartbreakers has only edged up his game, that is until he meets Zoey. She’s turned his world upside down and only she can make it right. Now all he has to do is convince her to stay with him forever. For a guy like Mack, that shouldn’t be too hard but it’s gonna take all he has and twelve days to win her true love.

Excerpt

“So this is your room?”

I nodded, hiking my backpack higher on my shoulder. I leaned up against the doorjamb, watching all the people running up and down the corridor as they settled into the hotel for the night.

Mack leaned against the wall, glanced at his phone and tried to stifle a sigh. “Tired?” I asked.

“Incredibly,” he said sheepishly.

“Why didn’t you take a nap this afternoon?” I asked.

“Because…I wanted to talk to you.”

I smiled. Mack wore his heart on his sleeve. He was a straight shooter and I admired that about him. You couldn’t dislike him either. “That’s sweet,” I said.

“Yeah,” he said and looked into my eyes. I met his gaze, not wanting to break the magic of this moment.  “Um, was…would you like to, you know, see more of each other while you are on tour with us?”

A pit started in my stomach. I wasn’t sure what I was most scared of. I was scared that Mack would hurt me emotionally. I was scared of leaving him behind after the tour was done. Or him using me and leaving me behind.

But most of all I was scared of falling for him. Scratch that. I had already fallen hard.

“Yeah, I’d like that,” I said.

He leaned into me and I met him halfway.

God, he was a good kisser.

Guest Post

Travelin’ Gal

The year was 1998 and everyone was looking forward to Y2K. There was a lot of fear and panic about computers, people were claiming planes were going to fall from the sky. Part of my family was planning to vacation in Hawaii and invited me to “end of the millennia” party in Hawaii, because while they weren’t buying into the panic, they theorized if anything did happen, oh well, we would be in Hawaii, which was a pretty good plan.

Except I was bouncing around the country in my station wagon, fresh off a bad break-up, I took my dog in the front seat sitting on top of my suitcase as I drove up 95 and out west on I-10. I was traveling for work, non-stop, living out of my suitcase. It sounds great, except for those crazy mall hours coupled with mall food. At one mall, they had TVs that played music and interviews. To this day, anytime I hear Ray Of Light by Madonna, I immediately feel the need to shout “I can help you over here” like I’m back at the register again.

I didn’t necessarily love working in a mall but I did love all the travel, moving around to trouble locations, fixing things up and moving on. Sleeping on a twin bed in a front room at staff housing was never great fun, but laughing at the crazy we all had is something I miss to this day.

After all that, I never got to Hawaii, though I visited almost every corner of this beautiful country. I instead bought myself a laptop and kept going, jotting down my ideas that turned into Twelve Days. As much as I want to scream when I hear certain songs from the turn of the millennia, they inspired me then. I just wanted to be flying down the road again, wind in my hair.

More than anything, I wanted a love story like Mack and Zoey. I got it, one day after my heart had healed after all that running. So now it’s time for me to share Mack and Zoey’s story with you, along with Josh and Nia and the rest of the gang.

I hope you enjoy it. Thanks so much to StoreyBook Reviews for having me by!

Thank you Hope for sharing a little bit about your life and how you came to write Twelve Days!

Review

Short stories, dogs, and murder – what a great combination!

This book has four short stories that each have a dog or two in them.  I think my favorites were the first and the third story.

The first story centers around a dog walker and a client hiring her to do some sleuthing to find a missing necklace.  She is able to narrow down the suspects but a major twist is thrown in and surprises everyone, me especially!

The second is a young couple purchase a home where the couple just left.  The neighbors have some crazy stories to tell about the couple and the wife keeps finding things in the house that were left behind.  There are some crazy things that happen and while the story is good I wanted to know more about how the story ended.  I can’t say too much but let’s just say that this could have gone on for many more pages to maybe tie up the loose ends.

The third story has a couple of mysteries – where are the painted rocks going that represents the passing of some pets and who killed Sean?  Another story where I was surprised when the killer was revealed.  I think I had some ideas about this character but not many.

The last story feels like it is set in England based on some of the descriptions and it just has a more European feel.  The main character is a person of interest simply because a suspected weapon ends up in his bag.  This story is a bit more “formal” for lack of a better word.  I suppose you could say it is more of a police procedural.  I found it interesting that he named his dog after his former girlfriend.  Either a sign of love or craziness! There are plenty of clues to determine who the killer is but it is interesting how it all comes together in the end.

You can’t lose picking up this book especially if you love dogs and mysteries.

We give it 5 paws up.

Pineapple Upside Down Murder (The Cast Iron Skillet Mystery Series)
Cozy Mystery
1st in Series
MYS ED llc (November 23, 2018)
Print Length: 130 pages

Synopsis

Introducing Jolie Tucker, an introverted yet passionate restaurant co-owner of Cast Iron Creations, who, at her best friend Ava’s request, steps out of her comfort zone which leads her into the shade of a killer in the small, cozy village of Leavensport, Ohio. The victim is the villages beloved Ellie Siler who runs the village sweet spot, Chocolate Capers. Jolie finds her grandma Opal is a prime suspect and goes on a search for answers only to find out that her families secret recipes may not belong to the Tucker family at all. Jolie’s job, family, and livelihood are all on the line. The answers are assuredly lethal.

Review

If you need a shorter cozy mystery to read on the go (in between appointments, etc) then this is one you might want to check out.  It has everything a full length cozy has but in 130 pages.

I always love a cozy that involves food and this is the first time I’ve seen one that centers around recipes that are cooked in a cast iron skillet.  (The recipes at the end look divine!)  Jolie is sort of a mess, I think she is an introvert so has problems talking to people or fitting in unless it is her family or best friend, Ava. Plus we get a peek into her past when it comes to her biological father and the emotional abuse he inflicted on Joie which has a lot to do with how she acts and reacts to people and situations.

Jolie and Ava have planned this restaurant since they were young children and are the best of friends and even live next door to each other.  They have a great relationship which hasn’t wavered even though Ava is in a relationship with Delilah – sometimes love interests get in the way of friendship.  Despite their friendship, there are some tense moments in several spots in the book but I’m not going to reveal why you’ll have to read the book and find out.

There is quite a cast of characters but even with the varied characters, I was able to deduce who is the killer.  I couldn’t tell you why, but something about this character’s actions and words clued me into their guilt.  Now that isn’t to say that a few other characters didn’t seem a bit suspicious.  There is also an attractive police detective that seems to have a thing for Jolie once they get past his initial brusqueness.

Overall a great start to a new series and we give this 4 paws up.

This book is the celebrated prequel to the critically acclaimed, nationally award-winning and bestselling memoir, Never Give in to Fear. In her raw, vivid, and unabashed style, author Marti MacGibbon delivers a sometimes heartbreaking, often hilarious, always engaging account of her passage through trauma, betrayal, and loss in adolescence and young adulthood to discover her inner badass self. As one of the first women to work as a laborer in the Texas oil field, she set off explosives and staked oil wells before realizing her childhood dream of becoming a successful standup comic. Marti introduces readers to a wide range of characters in her life: from sleazy authority figures, wannabe Sixties musicians and crazed Corn Belt cult leaders, to Texas oil billionaires and wildcatters, to wild-eyed redneck coworkers who robbed banks on their lunch hour―in the company truck. The book includes scenes with iconic comedians, Hollywood entertainment industry moguls, and a legendary bluesman, and offers insights into resiliency, courage, and self-empowerment.

Amazon  ┃  Baker and Taylor

This book dives into the gritty world of Texas oil fields, growing up in the 70’s and free love & drugs, and one woman’s perseverance to survive it all, if not for herself, then for her daughter.

I was intrigued by this book because Marti is a woman that found herself in a man’s world in the late 70s. And not just any man’s world, but one that was rough and tough and filled with discrimination and sexual overtones.  She gave as good as she got and was well respected by her peers which was probably a miracle considering the industry.

The first third of the book discusses her life growing up and some of the horrors she encountered as a teen, a young wife, and as a mother.  Some of the chapters were hard to read for me because of the drug use described in the chapters, but that is not to say that I can’t appreciate her journey in her formative years.  Her ex’s family was very controlling and some of what she experienced at their hands was devastating.  I know there are many people out there like Derek and his parents and that is a shame but at the same time I think it gave Marti strength and courage to tackle tough career choices and excel later in life.

I enjoyed watching her grow especially when it came to being a comedian.  She took a lot of the advice to heart given by many famous comedians which helped her hone and perfect her craft.  I know she has given back ten fold what she received to other comedians coming up in the ranks.  I cracked up when she was describing a scene at a cattle call and laying on the Texas accent and stereotypes.  Funny thing is that she was talking to the head of NBC and had no idea who he was and his role at the studio.

Because no book is perfect, here are a few things I didn’t like or found lacking.  There are a ton of f* bombs.  I totally expected it especially during the chapters talking about the Texas oil fields and working with the men.  It is a hard job field and is filled with tough individuals with varied pasts and just seems like that would be a normal part of every day in the fields.  I didn’t expect to see one when talking about her childhood (around 8).   The other thing is that there was no mention of her daughter once Marti found herself immersed in becoming a stand-up comedian (the last few chapters).  I know she was working towards custody of her daughter but how was it resolved?

Overall this was a book that shows you that you can overcome anything once you have made that decision.  It will make you laugh and respect Marti for everything she endured before getting where she is today.

We give this 4 paws up.

A compelling speaker and storyteller, Marti MacGibbon delivers high-energy presentations and writes books on overcoming adversity, addiction and recovery, and inspiration, with humor and a genuine, down-to-earth style. She’s experienced critical situations that no human being should have to face. In the past, she hit rock bottom in every possible way as a hard-core drug addict, was homeless, and was trafficked to Tokyo and held prisoner by Japanese organized crime. Her story of triumph is testimony to the power of the human spirit. Marti lives her message. She reveals simple, effective strategies that anyone can use to get back on track, build resiliency, reduce stress, and cultivate a sense of humor.

Marti is a bestselling author, inspirational speaker, certified addiction treatment professional, Gorski certified relapse-prevention specialist, and member of the National Speakers Association. She’s been interviewed in Entrepreneur, Investor’s Business Daily, on ABC-TV, CBS-TV, and numerous radio shows. And she’s funny: Marti traveled all over the U.S. as a professional standup comic and performed at the Hollywood Improv and Comedy Store. She is founder, producer and host of Laff-aholics Comedy Benefit for Recovery, an annual charity fundraiser in Indianapolis featuring nationally headlining comedians. She also serves on the outreach committee of IPATH, Indiana Protection for Abused and Trafficked Humans Task Force.

Review

I have to state this right off the bat – this is the 3rd book in a series, if you have not read the first two books, do not pick this one up until you do.  Or you will be like me and thoroughly confused because you didn’t know it was part of a series and the beginning of the book makes absolutely no sense!  Ok, so once I realized I was jumping midway into a series I changed how I looked at the content of the book as I was reading.

I have always enjoyed time travel novels and this one was even more interesting due to the time periods that it covers.  The story jumps from the 1300s to the present.  I think the first two books would give the reader a better grasp on what is happening in this book and how Shawn and Niall jumped about 700 years.  Amy is on a mission to find signs of Niall (who really belongs in the 1300s) by marks he might have left at various sites.  Shawn is from the present and is in the 1300s with Niall and coincidently they are mistaken for each other all the time.  Twins separated by centuries!  Amy is pregnant and I’m sure she is doing a lot of the searching so she can tell her child about its father.  However, there is another man in the picture, Angus, a Scottish Police Detective.

I loved reading the Scottish history and the details. I have never been to Scotland, and while I hope to perhaps visit one day, the descriptions of the various sites held me captive and I was able to imagine each historic site.

The characters are a mixed bag as I mentioned above – Shawn is arrogant, Niall is loyal (perhaps overly so), Amy can be wishy-washy, and Angus just wants to do whatever he can to make Amy’s life better, and to be a part of her life.  But all the personalities round out the book and make even the unlikeable character tolerable.

Overall I enjoyed the book but the only thing that bugged me is that when the story would flip to the present it would sometimes be italicized (which makes sense when Amy is thinking to herself) but other times not.  There was no consistency to the formatting.  And of course, the way the book started, I was very lost and had no idea what was going on in the story.  As I mentioned above, if you read the first two books and then this book, you probably won’t be lost like me.

Overall we give it 3 1/2 paws up.

Sparky of Bunker Hill and the Cold Kid Case
Young Adult Mystery
Mystery & Horror, LLC (October 9, 2018)
Paperback: 216 pages

Synopsis

Lots of characters have it bad, in my Bunker Hill neighborhood smack dab in the middle of Los Angeles, but I’ve had it rougher than most.
There may be something to this 13th business.

That’s my birthday, and I’m learning to dread seeing it roll around. My mother died on one birthday. The cousins dumped me on my last. This year, 1932, I found a dead kid on a park bench. It’s my eleventh birthday, and the day me, Sparky, ended up on the run, wanted for murder.

If the dead girl wasn’t enough, the dirty newspapers pinned every body in LA on me, and even blamed me for the Great War. I wasn’t even born then. The price on my head got bigger by the day.

It was up to me to find out who killed the girl and why I got framed, before I ended up dangling from the hangman’s rope.

Three Short Stories = One Mystery Novel

by Rosalind Barden

Readers often wonder how an author creates a novel. Do they just start writing in a burst of inspiration? Or do they carefully plan with an end vision in mind? For “Sparky of Bunker Hill and the Cold Kid Case,” the path was more meandering.

It started back in 1999, with no thought of a girl called Sparky wanted for murder. I read a 1902 short story called “A Study in Piracy” by Josephine Dodge Daskam, which was republished by “Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine” in April 1999. I so enjoyed I this story about the wacky misadventures of a group of kids, I saved it, tucked inside the cover of “Wodehouse on Crime,” no less.

This story rattled around in my head for years. As it rattled, it mixed with the strange and sad history of old Bunker Hill in downtown Los Angeles. Long before I knew its story, I was drawn to Bunker Hill and still am. Though I’ve lived most of my life in Los Angeles, I didn’t grow up here, so was startled to learn that Bunker Hill was once a wealthy enclave that fell out of fashion until it was razed and shortened in a burst of wild post-war redevelopment.

Perhaps I am fascinated with LA’s Bunker Hill because I spent my most of my elementary years in a place called Fairview Hill that rises steeply up from downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. Before Bunker Hill was lopped off, I suspect it was a lot like my childhood home, Fairview Hill, which is populated with old houses and nooks and crannies begging for mischievous kids to explore.

I took the feeling of running around Fairview Hill as a kid, mixed it with the fun of “A Study in Piracy,” and of course I had to toss in a ghost story, because that’s what I do. The result was “The Monkey’s Ghost,” which appears in the short mystery anthology, “History and Mystery, Oh My!” published by Mystery and Horror LLC in 2015.

But the story didn’t feel finished to me yet. I knew I had to do more, and Sparky’s character began to come to life. But as Sparky took shape, another character also appeared, Tootsie, the reclusive silent screen vamp.

I wrote a short story about Tootsie’s early years, and how she came to Los Angeles, barefoot, when she wasn’t even sixteen. By story’s end, Tootsie’s life is quite a bit different, and she’s on her way to what she became, a star. That story, “Dolly Dear,” remains unpublished. I’m keeping it in my back pocket for now. I could expand it into another mystery novel. Who knows?

As the stories of Sparky and Tootsie wove together, more elements materialized. I took the Depression-ear Bunker Hill location from “The Monkey’s Ghost,” and moved it backwards a few years. Several characters from “The Monkey’s Ghost” demanded a role in “Sparky” too. Pampered Marigold is back, but older. Gossipy Mrs. Tomes returns along with her housekeeper, Mrs. Mabaline. And I couldn’t do without mysterious Old Bob and Dodger the Horse.

Of course, I had to add a nod to the story that started it all. In Chapter 12 of “Sparky,” she explores the cellar of Creepy House and finds, “. . . a brass ball that might be from an old horse harness.” That’s a bit I boldly borrowed from “A Study in Piracy.” I also tossed in a fancy brass harness that Dodger wears in “The Monkey’s Ghost” (hope Ms. Dodge Daskam doesn’t mind).

Maybe some mystery novels have a straightforward path from idea to finish. Not “Sparky of Bunker Hill and the Cold Kid Case.” It’s a tale that took a long, winding journey from three short stories to a full-length mystery novel that’s hopefully the start of a series.

Title: THE ATLANTIS DECEPTION
Author: Mark H. Jackson
Publisher: Unbound Digital
Pages: 288
Genre: Adventure/Thriller

Synopsis

A German property developer, Hans Hoffmann, revels in the belief he has discovered the key to unleashing the weapon responsible for sinking Atlantis. Hoffmann requests the help of Cambridge archaeologist, Dr. John Hunter to validate his mysterious find. Hunter’s acceptance leads the maverick academic on a journey from the headquarters of a clandestine organization in England, to a lost city in the heart of the Brazilian Rainforest, and climaxes inside a chamber hidden deep beneath Egyptian Heliopolis. Pioneering theory is spliced by epic battles, daring escapes, and elaborate schemes aimed at unraveling a secret history hidden from humanity for the past twelve thousand years.

Atlantis is a very visual word. A word evoking mystery, forgotten realms, underwater palaces… the list goes on. I find this Plato inspired concept of Atlantis fascinating and read anything and everything I can lay my hands on. The theories are diverse and range from the feasible to the outlandish, but certain concepts keep reoccurring. The Atlantis Deception takes the ideas of an accepted and alternative theory, weaving them together to create a believable universe where our past still dictates our future.

The novel follows the trials and tribulations of a fictional Cambridge academic, Dr. John Hunter. The focus is not on Atlantis itself, but rather on what happened to its people it the wake of the loss of their homeland. The Atlantis Deception is a classic action adventure tale with heroes, villains, shadowy organizations and self-serving plots, each underpinned by progressive archaeological theory. The novel is written with the aim of both exciting and making readers think in equal measure. Although imagined, many of the conclusions the characters reach are cutting edge and described in such a way so as to blur the line between fact and fiction.

Wattpad, Inkitt, Critiquecircle, and Unbound –

Navigating Writing Websites for the Uninitiated

There are a number of outlets for publishing your work on the internet and some are better than others. Over the years I have used four platforms to have my work both critiqued and read – Wattpad.com, cirtiquecircle.com, Inkitt.com, Authonomy (now deceased) and finally published by Unbound.com.

The biggest of the sites and perhaps the most famous is Wattpad. Boasting an audience of 45 million and over 300 million uploaded books Wattpad felt like the place to start if I were to build a following for my work. I uploaded my novel, The Atlantis Deception (then known as Atlantis Reborn) chapter by chapter over the course of two or three months and set up residence on the club forums, offering advice and help in return for some small promotion of the novel. It was a tough introduction into social media but one I needed and the experience has held me in good stead for what was to come. I still remember feeling so proud when the novel hit 100 reads!

As with most things in life, you get out what you put in. I (perhaps misguidedly) joined Wattpad after hearing if a novel does well, there is a good chance of it being picked up by a publisher. Although the chances of being plucked from obscurity to achieve international acclaim is unlikely, even if your work does moderately well, Wattpad notoriety is at least something tangible to include in submission letters (should the traditional publication route be your goal). On that point, I should make you aware that if you choose to post a novel online, it will lose its first publication rights. This is looked upon unfavourably by many of the big publishing houses. Ironically the same publishers that insist you prove your work can attract an audience – Catch 22!

After realising this last point a little too late, I decided to use The Atlantis Deception as an advert for my second novel and treated Wattpad for what it is – a platform to build an audience.

There are two distinct groups on the site; the writers and the readers and a huge number of readers reside in the under 18 category, which is great if you write in the YA genre. However, given the size of Wattpad’s subscription pool, there are millions outside of this group, certainly enough for any author to find readers, whatever their genre.

As I see it, the job of any aspiring writer is to promote his or her work until it becomes both visible and viable. Wattpad is a great introduction to the world of publication and in a contained and safe(ish) arena. If you are successful on Wattpad (promoting, reviewing, blogging, tweeting, joining in with forum debates etc.), the skills you develop will furnish you with the confidence to apply them within the big bad world of paid publishing. In fact, if you do well enough, Wattpad itself will often give their author’s something back for all their hard work. From my point of view, I was promoted as a featured author and my book even appeared at San-Diego Comi-con a couple of years ago, associated with the TV series ‘The Dig’. The site is also constantly running various writing competitions throughout the year which again can only look good on a CV if you are lucky enough to win one.

The second of the sites I posted on was Inkitt, which is essentially Wattpad on a smaller scale. The biggest difference being their readership analytics. They claim that if you can attract a significant number of readers to your novel, they will offer you a publishing deal. This possibility initially drew me in, but after a few months the standard and genre of books winning prizes did not inspire me with a huge amount of confidence and eventually I removed my work from the site. I have since been told their publishing terms require a 15-year association with their label which seems excessive, especially if the book doesn’t sell. The terms may have changed since so I may be doing Inkitt a disservice. On a positive note, the reviews I received from the site were amazing and in some cases very detailed. It may be worth signing up just to interact with their community!

Critiquecircle.com is a website I would recommend to anyone involved in writing and interested in improving their craft. The site is free (although there is a paid version) and revolves around reciprocal critiquing. For every chapter you read and review you will receive a credit. Credits can then be cashed in by submitting your own work for an open critique by their community. You need a thick skin as some of the critics can be very tough, some of it warranted but sometimes not. It does hurt, especially at first, but it is all part of the learning process. My advice would be to try not to be precious about anything you post. Take on board any advice you agree with and dismiss what you don’t. That said, if a few people pick up on the same point, it might be wise to take some notice!

My final port of call is the crowdfunding publisher, Unbound.com. They are a relatively new publishing house and one that has recently taken me under their wing. They may be young, but already they can count established names such as Kate Mosse, Terry Jones, Tony Hawks, Andy Hamilton and Katy Brand amongst their clientele.

All crowdfunded monies go directly into supporting the associated book. It covers editing, proofing, cover design, typesetting and eventually marketing. The Unbound community has pledged over £3 million to a variety of projects, ranging from an anthology on race and identity in contemporary Britain to my own novel, The Atlantis Deception.

Over one hundred thousand people from every corner of the globe have supported an Unbound project and helped make that idea a reality. To date, over two hundred books have been published in this manner and many have been bestsellers and received critical acclaim (included being long listed for the Man Booker Prize). I am proud to have been given the opportunity to bolster that number with my own work.

If you haven’t heard of Unbound, I would suggest visiting their website. In my opinion, they represent the seed of change for the publishing industry, an industry that needs to wake it up and end its reliance on the so called super-authors such as King, Rowling, and Brown.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity to interact with my readers and potential readers. I am always available and willing to discuss my work or wider questions in general. Please do not hesitate to get in touch via the following mediums and thank you again for taking an interest in my work.
